Stylists are one of the most important and underrated personnel in the fashion industry. They are the connection between brand/designers to celebrities/clients. Behind every iconic look is a stylist putting pieces together. Behind every fashion icon is the work of a stylist. Sometimes they are undermined and don't get the attention that they deserve for all the hard work they put into changing the fashion industry. This blog post is to highlight some of the geniuses behind the fashion of Hollywood.
Law Roach:
As one of the first and most legendary black stylists in Hollywood, Law Roach has an astounding portfolio containing groundbreaking looks. As a judge on America's Next Top Model and the hit show Legendary, Law Roach branded himself as a staple in the fashion industry. He is the go-to stylist for every red carpet event with clients like Celine Dion, Zendaya, Priyanka Chopra and Anya Taylor Joy.
Bryon Javar:
Bryon Javar is another one of many talented black stylists in the industry. He, however, doesn’t gravitate towards styling for red carpet wear like most stylists. He gravitates toward performance wear instead. With clients like Saweetie, City Girls and Winnie Harlow, Javar is an expert in the field of hip hop performance and music video. He tends to style clothes from black owned brands in order to support his black community.
Veneda Carter:
Veneda Carter is lowkey in the fashion industry but is most well known for being Kim Kardarshian’s stylist. She is not only the brain behind most Kim Kardarshian’s fashion but also the brain behind many Yeezy campaigns. Carter’s style on Kim is a street style with a hint of glamour. She loves to display smaller and upcoming brands on one of the world's most famous women. With the help of Veneda Carter, Kim Kardashian is on a journey to becoming a fashion icon.
Jaheel Weaver:
When talking about Rihanna fashion, Jaheel Weaver will be the name that comes up. Not only is he Rihanna’s long time stylist, he was also the style director behind her former fashion line, Fenty. Although Weaver is an expert in casual and street wear, he can still style Rihanna for the red carpet. He loves playing colors, fabric textures and layering. Weaver is the reason behind Rihanna's success as a fashion icon.
Marni Senofonte:
Marni Senofonte, or best known as MarnixMarni, is one of the most talented stylists in Hollywood. Having been in the industry for over a decade, she is the life long stylist of Beyonce, Kendall Jenner and Diddy. She is an expert in many fashion fields, from styling Beyonce for red carpets to her music videos and performances. She can also style for fashion campaigns for Ivy Park and Adidas. She is skilled in styling haute couture fashion with sports and streetwear.
Maeve Reilly:
As Hailey Bieber and Megan Fox go to stylist, Maeve Reilly is making a name for herself in the fashion world. She is one of the pioneers for instagram-baddie girl fashion. Other than styling for everyday streetwear, Reilly also styles for magazines and red carpet. Her style is sexy, comfortable streetwear that enhances the woman's natural body and confidence. Her looks on clients are so very easy to replicate which make her style very popular.
Elizabeth Stewart:
Elizabeth Stewart is one of the most legendary stylists in Hollywood with A-list celebrity clients. She is also an editor for the New York Times, WWD, W magazine and a guest judge on the fashion competition - Next in Fashion. Her clients included Angelina Jolie, Viola Davis, and Cate Blanchett. She worked on multiple magazine campaigns from Vogue to Harper Bazaars. She is an expert in red carpet wear and glamour fashion. Her style is classic Hollywood fashion.
Carlos Nazario:
As the fashion director for I-D magazine, Carlos Nazario is an important figure in the fashion industry. He is the stylist for Bella Hadid, Naomi Campbell, Yoon An and Lizzo. He also worked for Vogue and numerous other magazines. Carlos is highly regarded as a leader in his field. He continues to use his platforms to inspire youth to lead by example and use creativity, positivity and technology.
